The purpose of copy editing is to correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, and syntax errors, alongside ensuring consistency and improving clarity on a sentence-level. This type of editing is beneficial for works that are nearing their finished product and need a close examination to identify errors.

Developmental, or substantive edits focus on the bigger picture. This can regard the structure, flow, tone, and clarity of your work, in addition to providing editorial feedback on plot, setting, characters, and recurring themes. This type of editing is best suited for early drafts, or writers that are looking to take their manuscript to the next level.

Proofreading is the final step to polishing your work before it is ready to be published. This process entails a very detail-oriented examination of the text to catch minor errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation, and layout. Fact-checking is also included in this service. 

The Writer’s Workshop package offers an in-depth critique of 3,000 words or less, which could be the beginning of your novel, a short story, or a collection of poetry. In addition to line edits, this service includes a video call to discuss feedback and work collaboratively on the edits for your chosen piece. The Writer’s Workshop is like having a personal writing coach on hand!

As a beta reader, I will review your manuscript and give constructive feedback on the overall story. My role in this sense is first and foremost a reader, therefore this service does not include edits. Alternatively, I will share my opinions regarding plot, pacing, character development, clarity, tone, and themes. Beta Reading can be beneficial for both first and final drafts, so I welcome any completed manuscript!

Want an extra set of eyes on a paper before you hand it in? This package is a great option for students in high school or a post secondary program who want to elevate their work. In addition to line editing, I will also provide queries regarding areas needing clarification or expanding.
